Il piccolo borgo medievale di Torri Superiore (XIII sec.) si trova nell’entroterra di Ventimiglia, a pochi chilometri dal mare e dal confine con la Francia. Situato ai Piedi delle Alpi Marittime, sulle pendici del Monte Grammondo a 80 metri di altitudine, è circondato da ulivi, agrumi, mimose e boschi di flora tipica mediterranea.
Dal 1989 l’Associazione Culturale “Torri Superiore” ha acquistato e avviato il restauro del paese per trasformare il villaggio in stato di abbandono in un ecovillaggio, un centro culturale permanente, una struttura ricettiva aperta all’eco-turismo, e per favorire il radicamento di una comunità residente.

La struttura ricettiva offre camere doppie e multiple (fino a 4 posti letto), con e senza bagno; un ristorante con serate a tema (cucina mediterranea, etnica, carne, pesce, menù vegetariani) e prodotti in gran parte biologici e locali; ampie terrazze per prendere il sole; una piccola biblioteca un punto internet.
Nelle vicinanze, si trova il torrente balneabile Bevera (5 minuti a piedi); belle passeggiate con vari livelli di difficoltà fino a Collabassa, Olivetta, Airole, Villatella (2 ore), Monte Grammondo (con possibilità di pernottamento al rifugio Gerry).

The little medieval village of Torri Superiore (XIII century) is located in the Ventimglia hinterland, a few km. away from the sea and the French border. It was built at the foothills of the Maritime Alps, on the slope of Monte Grammondo (1300 mt.), 80 meters above sea level.
The hamlet is surrounded by beautiful olive and citrus trees, mimosa and Mediterranean flora.

Since 1989, the “Torri Superiore Cultural Association” has gradually bought the village, and has started the process of rehabilitation. The aim of the Association is to transform the abandoned village into and ecovillage with a permanent cultural centre, a guesthouse, and to support the birth of a resident community.

The guesthouse offers double and multiple rooms (up to 4 beds per room), with and without private bathroom; a restaurant with special evening meals (mediterranean and ethnic cuisine, meat, fish, vegetarian dishes) based on organic and locally-grown produce; ample terraces for sun-bathing and relaxing. Laundry facilities, a small library and an internet point are also at the guests’ disposal.

In the vicinity, one can find the clear Bevera creek , and enjoy summer swims in its beautiful, secluded water-holes; trails and hikes at various levels of difficulty to Colla Bassa , Olivetta, Airole, Villatella, Monte Grammondo (with sleeping facilities at the Gerry Refuge).
